Mikey Harris began jigging when he was four years old. He has gained notoriety by combining Métis jigging with hip hop, creating short videos for the Tik Tok social media platform. By combining two forms of dance, Mikey hopes that he can introduce jigging to a younger audience. He is also keen on bridging cultural differences with his unique style.
Mikey Harris is an Indigenous dancer and choreographer from Winnipeg Manitoba. He specializes in his own unique style where he mixes traditional Metis jigging with hip hop. Mikey has professionally performed across North American for 14 years at multiple events such as the 2010 Winter Olympics, Parliament Hills New Years Bash, and the Indigenous Music Awards. His is co-director of Ikigai Collective, and the leader of the Ivan Flett Memorial Dancers. Mikey has trained in LA, New York, Toronto, Detroit, and Calgary. He continues to work on his craft and pursue his dream of dance.
