Calvin Racette retired from an education career that spanned 34 years. He spent his entire career working in the area of Indigenous education. He has had a wide range of experiences and continues to remain involved. He has had several publications in Metis history and is seen as a local historian by the community.

Calvin serves on several committees and boards as a representative of the Metis community in the areas of history and culture. His most recent work was as a resource person in a video production called Metis Knowledge Keepers. His dream is to support the work of the Indigenous community to create a voice so they can tell their story to the larger community. He is a parent of 4 and has nine grandchildren and is active in their lives.

Born and raised in Indian Head, Calvin sees his community as the Metis people of the Qu’Appelle Valley. His story is a reflection of their stories and speaks to a rich history that has many layers of cultural richness that reflect the Valley people.
