Join us for an evening concert at the Regina Farmers’ Market by Jace Eagle Bear with Yuyue Zhu and the Canadian Hung Kuen Society’s lion dancer, followed by a screening of the videos of Vicki Chau.
Jace Eagle Bear on Erhu (Chinese violin) with Yuyue Zhu on Ghuzhenh (long zither).
Jace Eagle Bear is a member of the Blood Tribe and serves as the concertmaster for the Calgary Chinese Orchestra. Jace has studied with many renowned erhuists, including Yu Hongmei (Head erhu teacher of China’s Central Conservatory of Music), Han Lu, Lemon (Yumeng) Wang, Wang Feng and Nicole (Ge) Li. Jace hopes to use his knowledge and experiences to provide other erhu enthusiasts the opportunities he never had growing up, as well as to integrate the erhu into the western orchestral vanguard.
Yuyue Zhu recently moved to Regina from Shanghai. She is currently studying at Luther College High School, and has been playing the Guzheng (also known as Chinese Zither) for 5 years.
The Canadian Hung Kuen Society’s lion dance teams have performed for many various events in Regina and area, New York City, Los Angeles and various cities in Europe
