Ages 6 to 12. Create a bandana while exploring both art and science through playful experimentation. Discover how colour dye can be made from natural materials by painting and stamping onto fabric.

Registration opens on Saturday, May 30 at 12:00 pm.

Using dyes created from berries, plants, and simple kitchen ingredients, participants will experiment with pattern and texture using brushes, sponges, and leaves. Some mixtures will include baking soda or vinegar, allowing colours to shift and react in surprising ways. Please dress for a messy activity.

Bio: Instructor Sara McCreary is a Métis textile artist and a second-year graduate student in Visual Arts at the University of Regina. She has a strong background in sewing and patternmaking, and blends both traditional and modern techniques in her work, drawing inspiration from Métis visual culture. Her art includes embroidery, quilting, natural dyeing, beadwork, and leatherwork, and she explores how Métis material culture changes over time through creative and collaborative design. Sara’s family and community stories, movements, and styles shape her work. She often uses reclaimed materials and references to family heirlooms, highlighting resourcefulness and adaptability.

About the branch

Regina Public Library opened its first shopping mall location as what was then known as Regent Park Branch in 1966.

Since 1995, Regent Place Branch called 107 Albert Street home, and provided the community with a full-service Library Branch.

In February 2012, the Branch moved into a temporary location in the Regina Market Mall, while a new Regent Place Branch was being designed and built.
