Learn 10 key steps for strategic estate planning. This session moves beyond basic wills to explore asset architecture, tax-efficient rollovers, and probate avoidance to effectively manage your legacy.

Estate planning is often misunderstood as the simple act of drafting a Will. In reality, a successful estate plan is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary strategy designed to navigate complex financial, legal, and personal milestones. This presentation goes beyond basic documentation to provide a 10-step roadmap for organizing assets and ensuring that estate intentions are effectively implemented.

This session starts by identifying the professionals required to spot technical hurdles before they arise. From there, it dives into the mechanics of asset architecture, exploring how to inventory worldwide holdings and utilize "outside the estate" vehicles like TFSAs and life insurance to bypass probate costs and court-verified delays.

The session concludes with a deep dive into the technicalities of the "final bill." It will explore the nuances of deemed disposition, capital gains on death, and the triple-option rollovers for RRSPs and RRIFs that can save families hundreds of thousands of dollars in deferred taxes. By bridging the gap between technical execution and clear family communication, you will leave with the tools necessary to ensure your legacy is a source of security, not a source of stress.
