Generic advice doesn’t get jobs, specific strategies do. Whether you are a newcomer or student looking to secure a survival job for immediate income, a recent graduate launching your professional journey, or a career changer pivoting transferable skills into a high-demand industry, the YQR Hire Me Series is built for you.
Join us for a hyper-local journey where we bridge the gap between applying and hiring in Regina. We go far beyond the standard resume templates to reveal the secret language, application channels, and hiring manager expectations across our city's major employment sectors. From entry-level survival jobs to credential-driven career paths, each workshop provides a tailored toolkit for your resume, your interview, and your long-term workplace success.
Unlike Crown Corporations or private employers, Regina's public sector institutions operate under formal competition-based hiring frameworks — where every application is scored against published criteria, every interview follows a structured behavioural format, and seniority and merit determine who advances. Most applicants lose not because they lack qualifications, but because they don't understand the rules of the system they're applying into.
This session is designed specifically for newcomers with post-secondary credentials seeking stable public sector entry points, recent business and administration graduates, and career changers from retail, reception, or customer-facing backgrounds ready to step into a structured, unionized professional environment with clear advancement pathways.
Please Note: This topic is delivered as a two-module workshop series. Each module stands alone and can be attended independently. Together, they deliver a role-by-role breakdown of Regina's major public institution hiring sequences — covering how to identify the right administrative and customer service entry points, navigate competition-based application processes, build a criteria-matched resume, and score a structured behavioural interview using the STAR method.
