Appliqué Fashion Patches: Learning from Métis Design

GE-1Ages 13 and over. Explore Métis-inspired hand stitching and create your own fashion patch using fabric scraps, patterns, images, and ideas that tell your story. All materials are provided.
Registration: Registration opens on Saturday, August 22 at 1:00 pm.
Important Note: Participants must be 13 years of age or older. Registrations for participants under 13 will be cancelled.
Learn about hand stitching techniques used in Métis textile practices and try them out while creating your own fashion patch. Cut and combine fabric scraps to create a fabric collage featuring your own story, images, patterns, or ideas.
Presenter Information: Sara McCreary is a Métis artist and graduate student in the Master of Fine Arts program at the University of Regina’s Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance. Her research-creation practice includes sewing, quilting, beadwork, embroidery and natural dye.
