Ages 13 and over. Create fantasy-inspired horns, headpieces or costume accessories. Learn how to make a simple base using wire, paper and foil then shape and sculpt your design with air-dry clay.

The focus is on exploring the creative process from an idea and basic structure to a finished costume accessory, rather than creating a complex or fully finished costume.

Materials: All materials are provided.

Registration: Registration opens September 24, 2026 at 1:00 PM.

Important Note: Participants must be 13 years of age or older. Registrations for participants under 13 will be cancelled.

We are offering this creative learning opportunity in two different sessions with different themes. If the October session time or theme does not work for you then you're welcome to join the November session instead.

  • Costume Makers Lab: Fantasy Horns and Headpieces - October 24 | 2:00–5:00 p.m. | Connaught Branch
  • Costume Makers Lab: Fantasy Props and Ornament - November 22 | 2:00–5:00 p.m. | Regent Place Branch

Participants will learn how to:

  • Develop a simple character or costume concept.
  • Plan a project and choose appropriate materials.
  • Create basic shapes and structures using wire, paper, and foil.
  • Build and shape a lightweight base for a costume accessory.
  • Sculpt and add details using air-dry clay.
  • Turn their ideas into a simple, wearable or decorative costume piece.


Depending on their ideas, participants could create:

🐉 Simple fantasy horns or ears
👑 Headpieces or crowns
🧚 Fantasy or fairy accessories
🎭 Masks or decorative face pieces
✨ Fantasy costume accessories
🦌 Animal-inspired headpieces

About the branch

Connaught Branch is one of Regina Public Library's inner-city branches, and it offers visitors a variety of services and diverse collections. This branch first opened to the public in 1931, and continues to play a pivotal role in the community, co-sponsoring programs with the Cathedral Area Community Association and the Community Schools in the neighbourhood.

The Branch offers after-school programming for children, as well as an eclectic selection of programming for teens and adults that reflects the diversified interest of this area of Regina.
