Indigenous Storytelling with Hazel Dixon: Kind to Grade 2

Kind to Grade 2. In Indigenous cultures, oral storytelling is a traditional method of sharing knowledge from generation to generation. Experience some Indigenous stories together with Hazel Dixon.

This program is being presented by Regina Public Library, in partnership with Regina Public Schools and Regina Catholic Schools to celebrate Saskatchewan Aboriginal Storytelling Month.

The program will be conducted through Zoom. One hour prior to the program, we will send you an email with the Zoom meeting ID. Please ensure that you have Zoom installed on your device or computer.  Elder Hazel Dixon is an oral storyteller of Ojibway/Mohawk ancestry from Ontario.  She has done extensive storytelling at various conferences, schools, children’s festivals, exhibitions and libraries throughout Saskatchewan.  Many of the stories are traditional First Nations Legends.  In addition to her storytelling, she has also been trained as a Life Skills Coach Facilitator and has found that these skills assist her in many ways.  During the Saskatchewan Centennial Celebration, she was in a Métis radio play which was aired on CBC Radio.  Hazel was a teacher at the Come & Learn Preschool in Regina.  She is an Elder with both the Regina Public School Board and the Royal Saskatchewan Museum.  Hazel is also a member of the Lions Club.
