The week of October 14 to 20 is Small Business Week in Canada.
Regina Public Library (RPL) is taking this opportunity to recognize the small business community by providing a place for business leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals to gather, celebrate, learn, and inspire. By contributing positively to the Prosperity of our community, this initiative serves one of the key outcomes outlined in RPL’s new Service Plan.
This year, RPL is partnering with Economic Development Regina (EDR) to jointly host the launch day event to promote Regina as one of the best cities in Canada for entrepreneurs and start-ups. The launch event will start with opening remarks by Jasmine Gray, Director, Entrepreneurship & Business Services at EDR, followed by a panel discussion and networking event.
We are excited to have three successful local entrepreneurs and business people join our panel discussion:
Jeff Barber, Library Director and CEO, will moderate the panel discussion. Refreshments will be provided during the launch event, for which we gratefully acknowledge the sponsorship by The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). After the launch event, there will be time for networking, followed by a full slate of speaker sessions during the rest of the day, including:
1:00 pm: Starting a Business (register here).
2:30 pm: Tax Strategies for Small Business (register here).
4:00 pm: Signing a Commercial Lease (register here).
5:30 pm: Financing Your Start-up (register here).
7:00 pm: Common Employment Standards Misconceptions (register here).
The launch event will serve as a start to a week-long series of Small Business workshops, which will take place throughout the week except on the Friday (which is RPL Staff Development Day) at various RPL locations. These programs include:
Part of RPL's Small Business Week programming series.
